From his humble beginning to being one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, Lewis Hamilton’s rise in F1 has not been less than a miracle. The boy who impressed everyone at the circuit in Go-Kart two decades ago is impressing everyone around the world coming in 2022.
Back then, nobody would have thought that the boy from Stevenage will go on to have 100+ victories and seven World Championship titles. Fast forward to today, it is hard to imagine that Hamilton once didn’t know how to spray Champagne.

Motorsports in general and F1, in particular, have a tradition of spraying Champagne on the podium. The winner along with the second and third-placed drivers comes up with a representative from the team to celebrate the victory by spraying the drink. Hamilton, however, wasn’t that great at it as he is now.
In a YouTube video published by BBC, Hamilton stated on his inability to spray Champagne, “The first time I sprayed a Champagne bottle, I didn’t know how to do it and I just held the bottle.”
“I didn’t put my thumb over the top and I was just shaking it and nothing was happening.

The boy who began his racing career in karting just at the age of eight now has multiple world championships to his name. From the karting days to the first few years of F1, there was one man who meant a lot to Lewis Hamilton, his father.
Anthony Hamilton, the father of Lewis Hamilton, was the manager and mechanic to the Briton for almost half of his racing career. Hamilton Sr. opened up on his son’s performance, “Well, the first time we tried him in Kart, he was only about two or three seconds off the pace, which for a novice was excellent.”

The 2022 season is Hamilton’s 16th season in Formula 1. So far the F1 ace managed to amass 103 pole positions, 103 wins, 188 podiums, and of course seven World championship titles. But the question is, can he keep building on this tally?
