The man who won at least once in every single season he raced in, failed to win a race in 2022. The man with seven world titles to his name finished behind his teammate at P6 this year. Despite his all-time career-low statistics, Lewis Hamilton is a man who does not give up.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Hamilton once revealed about the fighter side of him. After losing the title decider in the very last lap of the very last race in Abu Dhabi in 2021, many thought it was all over for the Mercedes man. However, it was not.

When asked what other people would have done in such a scenario, he said, “that’s what they would do [fall back, walk away or retire]” And he finally declared for the people who doubts him, “I’m built different.”

Sir Lewis Hamilton further conveyed, “I mean, I was built for this. It reminds me that people still don’t know me. Even after all these years. People still don’t know. So, all right, I’ll prove you wrong again.”

What was supposed to be the fight for the eighth world championship for Lewis Hamilton, after last year’s controversial Abu Dhabi race, didn’t turn out to be one. The man who leads from the front most often than not remained out of the racing limelight for most of the season.

Furthermore, 2022 has given Hamilton another experience, as he finished the season behind his new teammate George Russell. In his 16 years of career, the man from Stevenage couldn’t finish ahead of his teammate for only the third time altogether.

Adding to that, Hamilton, who won 103 races in all the races he competed, failed to win once this year. No pole position to his name and only nine podiums. That being said, it wasn’t a season the Briton would like to remember for long.
