Lewis Hamilton drives the fastest cars around some pretty fast and dangerous circuits. What’s more? He’s conquered them all! You’d imagine that the man doesn’t even know what the word fear means. However, there was a particular time when the 7x Champion got really nervous.

Lewis Hamilton has served as an inspiration for many. His exploits on and off the track have earned him the status of being a legend of the sport and the community as a whole. Hence, it was no surprise that he was ‘Knighted.’ Sir Lewis Hamilton. But you’d be surprised to learn that Hamilton was very nervous about one particular instance in his Knighting ceremony.

On the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, he narrated the incident. Hamilton said, “I took the knee and he [King Charles] puts the sword on your shoulders.” He then explained why this made him nervous. “I was very nervous cause you feel like the sword might be very sharp or something!”

Even though the very act of getting Knighted was a bit nerve-wracking for the 7x Champion but what happened afterward was a very wholesome moment for Hamilton.

During the interview, he spoke about when he met King Charles. “I met him when I was thirteen.” He spoke about how he met the future King at the McLaren factory. “I went to the factory and he came to open the factory up.” Hamilton then went on to tell the King that he wanted to become a Formula 1 champion.

Behold, all these years later, as soon as he had Knighted Hamilton, the King said, “You’ve come a long way.”
