We often wonder what actors would play F1 drivers if they made a movie about their life. Turns out Daniel Ricciardo had his eyes set on a Hollywood actor quite a while back. What’s crazy is that Lewis Hamilton totally guessed it right as well.

We know Daniel Ricciardo for his fun, ever-joking, ever-smiling personality. Even during his struggling two-year stint with McLaren, the Honey Badger did not let go of his humorous side. Therefore, it would only be appropriate for an actor with impeccable comic timing to play him in a movie.

Lewis Hamilton’s crazy guesswork moment involving Daniel Ricciardo

Lewis Hamilton and his then-teammate Valtteri Bottas appeared for a fun interview in 2017 called F1 Grill the Grid. The duo answered some questions about each other and some historic moments from F1’s past. However, what caught our attention was a question they asked Lewis that read, “Which 2017 driver said they’d choose Adam Sandler to play them in the movie of their life?”

Hamilton took some time to answer the question, but when he did, he left his teammate in splits. What was impressive was that he nailed the answer. Lewis replied, “I’m just going to say Daniel Ricciardo for me because he looks a little bit like him. I can imagine him saying something like that.”

What is interesting is that Hamilton too has his eyes set on a Hollywood superstar he wants to play if a movie was to be made about his life. He revealed his choice in an interview last year.

Lewis Hamilton is a big movie buff. He wanted to become a fighter pilot when he watched the original Top Gun during his childhood. Therefore, when he got to know Tom Cruise was making a sequel to the movie, he begged him to give him a role. Hamilton was even ready to play a janitor. Cruise however offered him the role of a fighter pilot alongside him. However, because of his commitments to the F1 calendar, Hamilton could not take the role.

But he certainly has a name on his mind he would choose to play if a movie was being made about him. In an interview with Saudi racer Abdulaziz Fudhili, Hamilton said, “Maybe I’ll say someone like…. Michael B. Jordan for example, would be cool. But he’s much bigger and probably won’t fit in the car. So, he’d have to slim down. But I like his acting at least.”
