Formula 1 racers are undoubtedly the finest drivers on the planet. Controlling cars around 200 miles per hour, when you’re racing in a circuit, at high-speed corners is no joke. However, on the road, it’s entirely different as they all have to be incredibly calm and composed and maintain the speed limit. Back in 2007, Lewis Hamilton shared how he likes to drive and what he likes to drive when he is on the road.

F1 drivers have a habit of driving super-fast, high-end cars. However, that’s applicable when they’re racing, and not when they’re on the road. On the road, they can not even touch the speeds that they average on the track. So, when it comes to day to day driving, drivers can have quite unexpected preferences.
Talking about this, during his debut season in F1, Hamilton shared, “I get to drive at 200mph when I’m racing, so it’s important to show control on the roads.” He added, “My Mercedes GL is like a tank, I drive it quite slowly.”
As per Carscoops.com, the vehicle that Lewis talked about was priced at $71,000 for its base model.
Hamilton shot to fame after his debut F1 with McLaren. He soon picked up his first F1 championship in 2008 and he never had to look back. As the current Mercedes driver grew popular and rich, any cars other than the Mercedes GL made it to his garage.
Lewis Hamilton once hit three cars with his Pagani Zonda
Apart from the Mercedes GL and many other high-performance cars, Pagani Zonda was one of Hamilton’s favorites. However, he once crashed the one-off rare, special edition Italian beast.

While the Briton was in Monaco, he crashed his Zonda against three parked cars in 2015 in Monte Carlo. As per The Telegraph, he was fatigued due to lack of rest.
As per BBC Sport, the 37-year-old stated, “It was a result of heavy partying and not much rest for 10 days. I am a bit run down. I have been non-stop and trying to fit training in at the same time and not getting a lot of sleep.”

However, the Mercedes star sold off the rare Pagani he had in his garage. The Briton bought the car in 2014 for $1.9 million and sold it for $11.5 million. That’s a staggering price difference of $9.6 million, and why not? A model named Zonda 760 LH in its deep purple color, especially made for Hamilton, deserves such an exclusive price tag.
