Gone are the days when F1 drivers used to drive cars without the need to follow a proper diet or exercise. Drivers today have to be fit, maintaining a strict diet to remain on top of their game. Lewis Hamilton has been at that level consistently for 15 years.
He has also been vegan for a while now. In one of his old Instagram posts, he exposed the myth behind a vegan misconception to his 30M followers.

Hamilton trained and maintained his weight of around 68kgs (150lb) consistently for 12 years. However, in 2019 gained more muscle and weighed around 75Kg (165lb). Moreover, he punctured a popular myth that vegans do not get sufficient protein to build strength.
Lewis Hamilton shared an insightful post on his Instagram account. He captioned the post, “Adding weight was easy and I did this on a vegan diet. People say ‘oh I need my protein and that’s why I could never go vegan’. I have plenty of protein in my diet and I’ve gained muscle, and I’m healthier and happier than I’ve ever been.”

The Mercedes driver also stated that he would have started to follow the vegan diet sooner, had he known about the same.
Lewis Hamilton regrets not having started a Plant-based diet earlier
Lewis Hamilton adopted a plant-based diet in 2017, and he hasn’t looked back since. The 37-year-old F1 driver is in tremendous shape. He explains how he feels his fitness levels have improved since switching to a more plant-based diet.
A while back, Lewis said, “Three years ago, I decided to follow a plant-based diet. The only thing I regret is not having done it before.”

He also added, “My taste buds have learned about things that I never thought I would eat and that I now love: falafel, avocado, beetroot, fresh and dried fruit.”
Hamilton also mentioned that his change of approach towards food has helped him. He admits that he was struggling and his energy was inconsistent before switching to a vegan diet.
