Ever since Red Bull delivered a car worthy enough to challenge Mercedes’ dominance, Max Verstappen has been at the center of it all. While the team could not win the 2021 championship, the Dutchman did just enough to win his maiden. Since then, it has all been smooth sailing. Last year, Verstappen broke records left, right, and center while amassing a record 15 race wins in a season. This year, the car looks even more dominant. This latest trend has led to a former team boss firing a warning at Lewis Hamilton.
After securing 1-2 in the season opener in Bahrain, with Max ahead of Sergio Perez, Red Bull continued the great run in Jeddah. This time, however, it was Perez who led the field while Max made his way from P15 to P2. The splendid drive saw him take the driver of the day home and also gave a trailer of what is to come if other teams fail to catch the Austrian team.

Reacting to Max’s dominant run on Formula For Success podcast, Eddie Jordan said, “If everything stays well with Max, and I’m hoping that it will mentally and physically and everything to do with the car, Max is gonna hit ten world championships. Because he’s that young and that good. How fast is he? He’s just ridiculous.”
Sending a warning Hamilton’s way, he continued, “I think Lewis needs to get on his bike and hurry up and get number eight because it’s soon to be passed up by Max.”

Witnessing Red Bull’s performance from up close in Bahrain, George Russell backed his rival team to win all the races this season. Hamilton too was in awe of their pace and heaped praise on Red Bull.
Lewis Hamilton believes the RB19 is the fastest car he’s seen in F1
Having driven cars from Mercedes’ dominant era when he was the biggest beneficiary, Lewis knows a thing or two about fast F1 cars. However, the Milton-Keynes-based team’s 2023 challenger, the RB19, is a beast on another level. When Verstappen attempted an overtake on him during the race in Jeddah, the Briton did not put up any fight. That was because he knew any attempt would be futile in front of that pace.

The Race quoted Lewis as saying, “I’ve definitely never seen a car so fast. When we were fast we weren’t that fast. That’s the fastest car, I think, I’ve seen, especially compared to the rest, I don’t know why or how but he came past me with serious speed.”
“I didn’t even bother to block because there was a massive speed difference.”

If any team, including Mercedes, is to put up any fight for the championship, they will have to pick up the pace of their development program. Otherwise Red Bull will run away with the title, while the only contenders in the drivers’ category will be their own drivers alone.
