In a recent interview with WWD, Lewis Hamilton enthused: “You’ve never seen anything like this race movie. I mean, I think racing movies have been very hard to capture in the past, and I think some people have done good jobs. They did a great job with ‘Rush,’ for example. The aerial cinematography in “Top Gun: Maverick” broke new ground with advanced technology and creative vision. Claudio Miranda and his team used top-notch Fujinon lenses and Sony Venice cameras to capture thrilling scenes directly on set. These lenses were dependable and delivered clear, stunning visuals even during fast-paced aerial stunts, enhancing the film’s action-packed sequences. Fujinon played a crucial role in achieving cinematic excellence, ensuring every shot was dynamic and impactful in this high-energy movie.
The making of ‘F1’ applies a similar approach, utilizing advanced technology and creative vision to capture high-speed racing scenes and G-forces. Academy Award winner Claudio Miranda had chosen Fujinon for the Top Gun movies for an important reason. “There’s no oddball distortion when zooming. There’s no vignetting, there’s no softening towards the edges, it’s all straight,” he had revealed. The main motive is that the film must be IMAX-worthy. One can expect no difference in quality this time as well. While Kosinski’s using all his filmmaking mastery, Claudio Miranda’s seamless cinematography will be the icing on the cake.
