Saturday’s qualifying went in the favor of Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton started the race in P3, hoping to get his first win this season at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. However, that didn’t really happen.

F1 drivers seemed to struggle due to wet tracks, and Lewis Hamilton wasn’t an exception. Many drivers, including the Mercedes star, hit the barriers and damaged their front wing. During his 33rd lap, the Briton crashed into a wall at turn 7. He apologized to the team through the radio and said, “I’m so sorry about that guys. I ****** that up big time.”

Despite starting in P3, he dropped down to P9 by the end of the race. Hamilton felt disappointed and revealed how his heart sank after the turn 7 incident.

He stated, “I don’t really have much emotion at the moment, It’s a pretty flat, pretty poor day ,a pretty rubbish day to be honest. But I feel okay, I’m just looking forward to tomorrow.”

When asked about his wet dry encounter, while overtaking Carlos Sainz, the Briton replied, “We would have potentially undercut him, maybe. But it was a battle of not undercut but who got on the slicks first, and it would have been slice and dice.”

The time is tough for the seven-time world champion. It was a race Hamilton would want to forget.

While Sergio Perez won the race and Max Verstappen finished in p8, it was a bittersweet weekend for Red Bull. Mercedes, on the other hand, had a weekend they surely wouldn’t have wanted.

In a race that was supposed to get them their first win of the season, both Mercedes drivers failed to get podiums. George Russell, who is looking forward to an overall P3 finish this season, ended in P14 today. However, this is only the second instance where Russell finished out of points in 2022.
