As the 2023 season progresses, Mercedes’ performance on the racetrack isn’t getting any better. And Lewis Hamilton is having to suffer because of that. But their partnership has been such a successful one that the Briton certainly plans to continue it. His contract comes to an end this year, but the renewal hasn’t been finalized yet. However, ahead of the Hungarian GP, he’s left his fans in suspense with his comments on his contract renewal.
Hamilton and Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff have the most nonchalant answers for the media when it comes to the contract talks. And both of them have been giving vague responses when asked about the final date of signing. The last update was the 7-time Champion asking for a 10-year Ambassador role with the Brackley outfit on top of a 5-year $319 million contract. But in the media pen in Hungary, he has given a mysterious update about the same.

Like any other press conference, the Briton was asked once again about his future with Mercedes. Hamilton said, as quoted by the Sun, “Nope… It might be announced at the end of the year. I might keep you waiting! Honestly, I don’t have any more information for you to share. It continues to be with the lawyers, back and forth on things.”
Looks like the LH army needs to wait a bit more before they can celebrate the fact that they would get to see their idol continue racing in F1. Hamilton might have given a puzzling answer to this question. But he didn’t hold back at all when the questions came to their rivals breaching the cost cap.

Red Bull was found guilty of breaching the 2021 cost cap last year. Then, the FIA fined them $7 million and reduced 10% wind tunnel time for the next year. And once again, the Milton-Keynes outfit has been suspected to have breached the cost cap in 2022. It will be 2 consecutive years of doing so. Nonetheless, Hamilton feels that their rivals will be let off easy like the first time around.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Hamilton said, “I mean, there wasn’t really a big punishment last time, so there’s no real… There will be people that will probably go for it again and know they’re just going to get a slap on the wrist.”
