At the recently concluded Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton triumphed over Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver has been the biggest thorn in the Mercedes driver’s side this season. And in the post-race press conference, the Briton admitted that he has learned a lot about his arch-rival in recent times.

Despite Mercedes looking like the weaker team at the start of the season, Hamilton seems to have gotten the better of him in the past couple of races. In the process, the seven-time world champion has also managed to study Verstappen’s RB-16B. As the saying goes, know thyself, know thy enemy.

Although Mercedes has been the favorite all this time, Red Bull has risen to the challenge. In the Spanish GP press conference, Hamilton spoke about what he has learned about Verstappen.

He said, “When you are with people on track you get to see different things and watch closely and obviously I was following relatively closely and I learned a lot about his car and how he uses it, so it was a good race in that respect.”

In two weeks’ time, the F1 paddock visits the Monte Carlo street circuit. Although Catalunya is known for being a track that is difficult to overtake on, Monaco multiplies that by 10. Over here, qualifying is absolutely critical, as there are very few overtaking hotspots on the unforgiving circuit.

That race weekend could be interesting, as both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have performed well at the track. So, when race weekend finally arrives, it will all be down to who qualifies better. However, even if they are on the front row, they still have a chance, as long as one of them gets a better start.

While Hamilton and Verstappen will look to one-up each other, their respective teammates, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, will want to redeem themselves, especially after their lackluster starts to their respective seasons at Mercedes and Red Bull.
