The Knight had two major crashes with Verstappen, one at Silverstone and the other at Monza. This has heightened the stakes, but Hamilton feels there is no beef with the 24-year-old, but if he was the same age, then he feels that things would be different.

Speaking on Desus & Metro showtime, Hamilton said, “Nah, well look I am 36 so you know he is 25 (24). I have got to set an example. Now if he was 36 then things would be different.”

Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Hamilton said, “It’s important to win every race somehow, you know, maximising our points – that’s our goal over these next six races – it’s going to be incredibly difficult and there will be moments where we can perhaps edge them [Red Bull] out and… I don’t like to assume that Mexico is not going to be strong but they are usually very strong in Mexico.”
