Lewis Hamilton’s personality extends beyond being solely a racecar driver. The Briton is a known activist who spreads important messages for social justice by using his huge platform. As the Formula 1 circus is not going to return until the Spanish GP next week, the Mercedes racer has some time on his hands. And in this period, he has decided to devote some time to a cause that is dear to his heart. Hamilton is famous for his philanthropy, and especially for his work regarding the Black community.

Thus, it is no surprise that he attended a fundraiser for a non-profit organization called the 15percentpledge. Their target is to increase the income of black business owners. As per their Instagram page, the organization set up contracts with retailers to commit 15% of their annual earnings to Black businesses. At the fundraiser, Lewis Hamilton was spotted joining Vice Chairperson Aurora James and Board Chair Emma Grede. Guess who else graced the event?

Speaking at the event, the organization’s Chairperson Aurora James declared her pledge to give grants to Black women. Previously, Lewis Hamilton has worked for the welfare of young Black women pursuing a career in STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). But his presence at the 15percentpledge gala says that the Briton is also placing his support for female business owners so that they can get grants to kickstart their shops.

It is no news that Lewis Hamilton supports the Black community with a major chunk of his resources and influence. As the only Black racer in F1 history, he is known to back various organizations along with Mercedes. But now, he is leaving the team next year for Ferrari. Do you believe the Scuderia will help Lewis continue his philanthropy just like Mercedes did? Let us know in the comments below.
