Lewis Hamilton did not start the season on the note he would have wanted to. The W14 did not just lack enough pace to fight for the wins but was also slower than the new challenger Aston Martin. Resultantly, the Silver Arrows failed to register any podium place in either of the two races. That changed yesterday when Hamilton put on display a drive that matched his champion’s stature.

Later, Hamilton, too, dubbed the RB19 the fastest car he had ever seen. Not anymore, though. The P2 finish in Melbourne has brought rejuvenated confidence in him.

The gap between most teams has reduced significantly. However, the Austrian team has somehow managed to trump them all once again. That left Hamilton urging his team to not rest on their newfound success.

He said, “We’ve got a lot of work to do, especially with catching the Red Bull because it just came past and disappeared, but this is a real boost of hope and energy that so early on in the season we’re there or thereabouts.”
