Lewis Hamilton won his seventh world title this season. In an episode of ‘A Formula For Success’ Podcast, the champion talks about his decision to join Mercedes and how he does not believe in luck.

Hamilton talks about his journey and hard work that goes into becoming the top performer in Formula 1. The Mercedes driver explains the importance of fortune and people’s reaction to him joining the Brackley team.

He said, ” I never use the word luck. Of course, you need fortune along the way, it’s a tough business already to get into.”

He also explained his decision to join Mercedes that he was laughed at for at the moment. “That’s not going to work, you’re never going to do that and here we are,” Hamilton pointed out people’s reactions.

After winning a championship in 2008, the Woking outfit was not performing to its expectations. In 2013, Hamilton replaced Michael Schumacher in search of a car that will help him win. His decision paid off, however, there were many who were doubtful of his decision.

“When I joined the team, everyone believed it was the worst decision I could ever make, my career is over and we’ve just won seven world titles in a row,” laughed Hamilton. Even the champion’s dad was not on board with his decision.

Lewis Hamilton joining Mercedes was a calculated decision. He had conversations with Niki Lauda and Toto Wolff, who helped him make his decision. Lewis Hamilton has truly realized his ultimate potential as he claimed six out of the seven drivers’ championship driving for Mercedes.
