It’s one F1 World Champion versus another on social media right now! Well, no, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are not fighting each other per se, but the Mercedes racer took a friendly jibe at Nando recently. Hamilton is only three years younger than Alonso, and they have been rivals ever since the Briton stepped into Formula 1. In 2007, Lewis debuted for McLaren while Fernando Alonso was already a two-time F1 title holder. And even though Lewis Hamilton was supposed to play second fiddle to the reigning World Champion Alonso, he tore up that script and tried taking on his teammate at the very first 2007 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
What followed was a massive rivalry between two elite racers as both Lewis and Nando refused to leave space for each other on the points table. Looking back on their 2007 rivalry where on-track incidents and petty name-calling on media became a common thing, Fernando Alonso had said, “Now there is another type of rivalry, I don’t think we will be friends in the future or that we will ever have… I think we don’t share many things. But it is true that in 2007 the rivalry rose to a higher level.” In fact, their competition impacted the scores of both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso as neither could secure the 2007 F1 title and it went to Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
And recently, Hamilton proved that the embers of his rivalry with Alonso are still there. While he has not had many on-track battles with his former McLaren teammate in 2024, he took their fight to social media. With a hint of humor, Lewis mocked Nando when an interviewer for F1’s Grill the Grid segment showed him a picture of the Oviedo. The interviewer asked the Mercedes racer, “What’s wrong with this picture?“, and Lewis quipped up, “Just him [Fernando Alonso] standing on the podium.”

Hamilton’s savage take on Alonso’s lack of recent podium wins became viral overnight. Fans flocked to the comments section of the clip to show how hilarious they found the Mercedes racer’s remark. But what did they actually say?
Fans could hardly believe Lewis Hamilton made such a savage comment on Alonso
Lewis Hamilton meant to convey the fact that Alonso has not scored a single podium win since the Sao Paolo GP in 2023. Nando’s team, Aston Martin, has not performed ideally in the current season as he has only scored 49 points till now. Meanwhile, Lewis’ Mercedes W15 has shown great improvement after a weak start to the season. He is sixth on the World Championship rankings with 150 points and 2 Grand Prix victories already. So, Lewis hilariously took a jibe at his old rival from Spain, saying that Nando being on the podium was a rarity.
Lewis Hamilton is famous for conquering 105 Grands Prix and bringing home 7 World Championships. But his funny side is something the F1 fans do not get to see very often. However, Elton John had once said, “British humor is my favorite kind of humor.” And Lewis has proved he is British through and through by taking a hilarious jibe at Alonso. Seeing Hamilton’s full-on British humor, fans wrote about it.
No he did not 🫢😆

Lewis Hamilton mostly shows off a cool exterior whenever he is doing interviews for the media. F1 journalist Rebecca Clancy once commented that Lewis Hamilton is so calm that it is “bamboozling“. Whenever the Briton goes on track, he hardly ever spits out expletives like his much younger colleague Yuki Tsunoda or shouts at his crew on the team radio like Max Verstappen. While fans on X are used to seeing Hamilton stay calm against the storm of the F1 races, they saw his new savage side as he hilariously “attacked” Fernando Alonso on the Grill the Grid video.
Attack =0
Damage = 100

Being a 2-time World Champion, Fernando Alonso has a winning mindset even at 42! The Spaniard had failed to secure a podium at his home Grand Prix last year and as he was fuming, he had said on June 8, “This is the last race without a podium.” However, his foretelling did not go well as he could only score three top-3 finishes since then. And this year, that count has been absolutely zero. So, as Lewis has taken a jab at Nando’s inability to score podium wins, some of his followers reckoned Alonso would be dead angry if he saw the clip.
Alonso will die a thousand deaths!

Lewis Hamilton has always spoken openly about the growing hate on social media. Thus, even though he has 37.5 million followers on Instagram, he only shares some of his photos with everyone. But fans want him to talk to the media more often because they miss seeing his hilarious and savage side. So, when Lewis took a friendly jibe at Fernando Alonso on his ‘Grill the Grid’, some of the X users talked about it.

Now, Ferrari is going to welcome Hamilton into the team next year. After 12 years with Mercedes, Lewis will walk out in 2025 for a new journey with the Maranello outfit. At Silver Arrows, the media team hardly ever does challenge videos with its racers such as the ‘photography challenge’ and ‘quickfire answer challenge’. On the other hand, Ferrari is famous for shooting such videos for its YouTube channel. So, one of the fans brought up the possibility of Lewis taking part in those ‘challenge’ videos.
imagine what he'll be like if ferrari pr forces him to do those wacky challenge videos 😭 we are going to see unprecedented levels of sass from him
