Lewis Hamilton’s emotional confession as the winner of the 2024 British Grand Prix

Hamilton couldn’t hold his tears as he swooped across the last turn of the track. His emotions came naturally. The win felt like his maiden win. While talking to Sky Sports after the race, the legend confessed what he was feeling. When the reporter remarked “It’s like a fairy tale”, Hamilton’s candid response showed how much this victory meant to him.

“My heart’s racing (…),” Lewis said. “It was the most emotional to a win that I have ever experienced. I think after such a difficult 2021, just try to continue to come back. There were so many thoughts, so many doubts in my mind along the way.”

Major setbacks can make any human question their capabilities and Hamilton is no different, although some would disagree that he is ‘human’.

A 7x World Champion, master at breaking records, and the writer of his fate, Lewis Hamilton is in a league of his own. He also mentioned in the interview that after 2021’s mishap he sometimes thought of not continuing. This highlights the immense pressure the F1 drivers experience every single time they’re on the track.

Especially for someone like Lewis Hamilton, the pressure increases tenfold. “To wake up every morning and continue to try and finally succeed- it’s the greatest feeling I can remember having,” the 39-year-old added. However, when Hamilton wakes up tomorrow morning, he will be a nine-time British GP winner.

His greatest supporter, Anthony, has seen all his highs and lows, from his rise in 2006 to his fall in 2021. “He questions himself like we all do occasionally. You question whether you’re still good enough, young enough, strong enough,” said the proud dad.

The 2021 mess made Lewis question his abilities, and a streak of no wins made things even harder.“I know Lewis, and as far as I’m concerned he still got everything he needs to run at the top. And sometimes you just need reminding about that. He knows he’s got it, and today… what a huge confidence boost,” Anthony added.
