However, the weekend is past us and everyone is looking forward to the next Grand Prix in Singapore. One driver, in particular, will be more enthusiastic about the Singapore Grand Prix than most. The driver being Williams pilot Alex Albon.
The Williams man withdrew from the Italian GP on Saturday, handing De Vries his debut, because of health concerns. Albon suffered from a common condition in which the appendix becomes inflamed, called appendicitis. The condition requires care and treatment and a fairly common laparoscopic surgery.
However, the straightforward procedure took an unexpected turn, as revealed in a statement. The statement published on Williams’ official website stated, “Following surgery, Alex suffered with unexpected post-operative anaesthetic complications which led to respiratory failure, a known but uncommon complication. He was re-intubated and transferred to intensive care for support.”
