Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are back in Canada, but are they really? Currently struggling to grasp form and trying to land the car in the top 5, the team doesn’t really seem okay. However, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has previously favored the Mercedes machinery where they’ve managed to win three years in a row.

But, for Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton, the track has proven to be even more impressive. He has won in the country an impressive seven numbers of times and has even taken a sextet of poles. However, the Silver Arrows are in terrible form for the first time in nearly a decade and, from the looks of it, might suffer mercilessly this time.

A recent post from the team garnered several reactions from across the world. Titled as, “Two valuable practice sessions completed. Good to be back in Canada for the first time since 2019.” They left the fans confused. The term ‘valuable’ stands a bit questionable given Mercedes has even failed to make it to the top 5 in the practice till now. And Hamilton has struggled way more than expected.

In fact, Hamilton in FP2 stood 13th. While George Russell, usually impressive, only managed a P7. Safe to say these rankings are below par usual Mercedes standards where they do not leave the front row. However, this season might have changed that narrative too. Plus, fans have been tired of waiting for a Silver Arrows and Hamilton comeback since the beginning.

The seven-time world champion’s fans criticizing the team over this comment makes sense. Many have simply accepted that no amount of ‘valuable’ looks can change the season. The Brackley outfit has not won a single race, with podiums only gifted in cases of Ferrari or Red Bull DNFs.

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton struggle still on

There have been certain moments when it seemed like Mercedes has unlocked a key to performance. Notably, in Spain, the team performed exceptionally close to its rivals. That was arguably the only race when the team managed to stay competitive and, at moments, even fight with their rivals.

However, by the time we reached Round 8, we were back to the same old story of ‘porpoising’. Baku was in fact a particularly tough race for Hamilton who suffered from apparent back pain and suffered. So, seems like no setup can save Mercedes this year, or is there still a way out of this? What do you think?
