Lewis Hamilton & Max Verstappen in Major F1 Snub; Fall Behind Daniel Ricciardo

The Singapore GP was full of mixed emotions. It was a race marred by the FIA’s decision to delay the start and the subsequent DNFs. However, Sergio Perez had a near-perfect race to secure one of the best F1 victories of his career. Let us take a look at F1s top-10 power ranking for this week’s Singapore GP.

Race winner Sergio Perez led the ranking charts with a rating of 9.4. The Mexican pulled up a brave move in the first corner of the first lap as he overtook pole-sitter Charles Leclerc. His race defense was equally commendable as he held off the Ferrari driver till the very end.

McLaren driver Lando Norris was the second-best driver on the grid, with a rating of 9.2. He climbed to an impressive 4th position and took advantage of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton slipping up on the track. Pole sitter Charles Leclerc got a rating of 8.2 after setting the fastest lap in qualifying but not getting the best start in the first lap of the race.

Daniel Ricciardo had a rare good race with McLaren as he climbed up the charts from P16 to a respectable P5. He and Pierre Gasly were tied with a rating of 7.4 for the 6th best driver on the weekend.

Verstappen and Hamilton, however, missed out on the top-10 power ranking as their Sunday GP was nothing to write home about.

Despite finishing the race in P3, Carlos Sainz of Ferrari could only make it to the 9th position on the list with a rating of 6.8. However that might not be the case for the races to come, as he has some strong plans for himself and the team.

Carlos Sainz wants Ferrari to end the F1 season on a high

After picking up a double podium with the help of his teammate, Charles Leclerc, the past weekend, Carlos Sainz has called Ferrari to finish the season on a strong note. After their comeback in the last 2 races, Ferrari has opened a comfortable gap from P3 Mercedes in the constructor’s championship.

The Spaniard pointed out, “When you’re about to get in a good run of races, you know, that is so important in Formula 1 to gather a bit of momentum and get the confidence for the team and for myself building.”

He also said, “Because this year, for me, has been characterized by never getting more than two or three consecutive good races, always have a reliability issue, bad pit-stop, a strategy issue that comes into play.”

Singapore’s wet street circuit did not get the comeback it would have anticipated on its return after 2 years. However, there were still some extreme driving skills on display in the race.
