Lewis Hamilton had Valtteri Bottas as his teammate for five years at Mercedes. However, the Finn will part ways at the end of the season and join Alfa Romeo; paving the way for George Russell to join the team in 2022.
The 7-time world champion reflected on his partnership with Bottas, and what had gained from their time together. However, he is still aware of the task they have at hand, and that is to win another championship for the Silver Arrows.

Lewis Hamilton looks back at his time with Valtteri Bottas
The two Mercedes drivers have helped pick four constructor’s championships in their time together. However, Hamilton has stated that he has not gained titles through their partnership, but also a friendship.
Speaking ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, Lewis said, “It’s been amazing, thoroughly enjoyed it, it has been an amazing journey, earned a friend through the time. And, we have helped the team achieve four world titles throughout the time you know.”
“Obviously, we are still trying to close it on the high. But I am really, I am excited for the next chapter in his life. Everything we have grown and learned together continue on growing and improving so yeah,” he explained.

What more did Lewis say about his departing teammate?
Lewis & Valtteri have formed a strong bond over their years as teammates at the Brackley-based squad. With the Finn leaving the team at the end of the year to join Alfa Romeo. Hence, Lewis took this opportunity to praise his teammate and remind him of their goal this season.
He said, “I’m immensely proud to have worked alongside Valtteri Bottas for the last five years. Together, we’ve been part of a team that has delivered four Constructors’ Championships, and we’ve motivated one another to keep pushing through the ups and the downs.”
“He has been the best teammate I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Your speed and resilience has been impressive but where you truly stand out to me is the human being you are. You are greater than you know and I know there’s a bright future ahead for you.”

For now, the duo must turn their attention to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Hamilton & Bottas would hope to achieve a good result and retain the top spot in the team’s championship.
