The ‘summer break’ Lewis Hamilton is doing something completely new for the first time in his life. Most F1 drivers don’t even get time to breathe during the season. The only time off the drivers get is during the mid-season break and after the conclusion of a season.

So most drivers try to make the most of their breaks by spending time with family and loved ones or by trying something new. So even on holiday, Hamilton is multi-tasking and spending time with loved ones while attending to something he’d been meaning to.
The Mercedes man is using this year’s break to track his roots through Africa. Overwhelmed by the experience, Hamilton shared a few photos from his trip with a heartfelt message about the grounding experience.

The caption read, “This year I’m spending my summer break doing something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’m finally tracing my roots through Africa and guys, to say this journey has been a grounding experience is an understatement. This has been a life-changing reset.”
Hamilton’s first stop was in a city called Namibia. The stunning beauty of Namibia left Hamilton speechless as he added, “Everywhere I look I’m surrounded by so much beauty, and I feel truly re-centred and at peace. My first stop was Namibia, one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. Words and pictures do not do it justice.”
Hamilton’s second destination in his summer break is a striking contrast from his first one.

Right after the summer break started, Hamilton was seen spending his time with another world champion from a different discipline. Hamilton kicked off the summer with Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 MotoGP world champion.

Hamilton was spending time with the Frenchmen surfing on their electric surfboards. Hamilton shared videos of the two surfing as he took “a much needed day out on the water.”
