Lewis Hamilton dealt Toto Wolff a major blow when he announced the Ferrari move for the 2025 season. While the Mercedes CEO tried to find a replacement capable of filling the shoes of a 7X champ, he supported Hamilton’s Ferrari dream. The Briton, however, decided to drop a brutal bomb on Toto Wolff, as he recently featured on the famous YouTube show Hot Ones. But what did Lewis Hamilton say?

Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff have been trying to get the Mercedes back to the front of the grid. The team at Brackley just cannot decode the new regulations, as even McLaren and Ferrari seem to have caught up to Red Bull in terms of pace and performance. Despite Hamilton suggesting last year that he had unfinished business left as he signed the Mercedes extension, the 7X champ decided that it was time to move on.

Toto Wolff, despite facing challenges because Hamilton decided to move, wishes for the Brit to succeed in his future endeavors. Wolff talks about having a personal relationship with Hamilton that goes beyond the realms of motorsports and hence suggests that if Ferrari gave Hamilton a competitive car, he would win the championship. Speaking with the PA news agency, Wolff said, “If Ferrari is able to give Lewis a competitive car, he can win a world championship, there’s no doubt.”

Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, decided to roast Toto Wolff and Co. for the poor performance of the 2024 car and explained how he’s been struggling with it. During the recent Hot Ones episode, Sean Evans asked Lewis Hamilton, “When are you most in conflict with the machine that you are driving?” To which Lewis Hamilton replied, “Right now”. Even followed up by asking, “At what point in the race do you most feel like you’re trying to make the car do something it doesn’t want to do?” Hamilton again came out with a spicy reply and said, “At the moment, it is every second.”

However, from the tone of the sentences and the expression, it could be seen that Hamilton sarcastically said all this, but it felt like a sneaky jab toward Toto Wolff and Co. Some recent comments from Hamilton do point at Mercedes prioritizing George Russell.

Lewis Hamilton does not expect to out-qualify George Russell for the rest of the season

With Lewis Hamilton moving away, it would make sense for Mercedes to focus on George Russell as their No. 1 driver and update the car around his preferences. But does that include making the car worse for Lewis Hamilton to drive? Well, according to Hamilton’s recent comments, it seems like it. The 7X champ has struggled against Russell, especially in qualifying since the start of the season, and has now come out with a feisty statement about the same.

Speaking after the Monaco weekend, Lewis Hamilton said, “We just got to keep on pushing. We’ll slowly get closer through the year as more upgrades come. I don’t anticipate being ahead of George in qualifying, particularly this year. But we just gotta keep pushing. The races are strong.” When the reporter asked, “All Year?” Lewis Hamilton Shrugged his head and said, “We’ll see.”
