Many fans have called the FIA to strip Max Verstappen of his championship. The Dutchman beat Lewis Hamilton in the last lap of the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. However, Hamilton has raised questions regarding the budget cap and said there’s room for improvement of the same.

Hamilton, in conversation with Motorsport.com, said “I think the sport should do something about this in the future. If it is followed rather loosely, then all teams will go over it. Then teams will spend millions more and that is not good for the sport. Then you might as well not have a budget ceiling.” [Translated using Google]

However, Lewis put his trust and confidence in the FIA to do the right thing. The Mercedes man said, “I must believe that. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, of course. And otherwise, I’m just focused on doing my job the best I can. What they’ve done is done.”

He further added, “Toto is very focused as a leader to really elevate people. I don’t know any other leader, that I’ve worked with at least, that goes and says ‘hey, how are things at home?”

The Briton explains how Toto constantly keeps asking people if he can support them or how can he make the work environment happier. He also explains how there is great communication within the Mercedes team.

Hamilton concludes by saying, “That’s who Toto is. Because of that, there’s a real, general hunger within the team. A combination of those and I’d like to think we will be the ones being able to beat them again – I do believe that for sure.”
