Coming from humble beginnings, Lewis Hamilton always goes above and beyond the call of duty for his impassioned fans. On the track, he is a seven-time world champion, but it is his off-track efforts and acts of selflessness that crown him a champion outside the pinnacle of motorsport.

The driver from Stevenage was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Thus, he realizes the privileged position he finds himself in and uses it as a platform for the greater good. In his recent act of compassion, Hamilton sent a special package for a member of the team LH, all the way to Poland.

An 8-year-old Ukrainian refugee, Roman, who pictures himself racing on the F1 grid one day, had to leave his hometown because of the Russian invasion. However, the avid supporter of the driver inked with “Still I Rise”, channeled his inner Lewis Hamilton to rise through the adversity and still cheer on for his idol.

As a result, the Brit’s heart melted, and he sent out a package containing a signed cap, F1 Monopoly, a model of his helmet, along with a note from his Mercedes team hailing him as an “amazing supporter”. Remarkably, at the mere age of 8, Roman got separated from his father as he fights on the front line back home in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian felt like Christmas came early as his smile, wider than a pit lane entry, spoke more than mere words. He shared a glimpse into settling in a new place by saying, “It is nice here. My favorite thing is the town swimming pool because of the slides.”

Meanwhile, Hamilton continues to do what he does best, that is lead by example.

Lewis Hamilton takes a stand against the Russia-Ukraine war

F1 wasted no time in taking a stand against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with its first step being scraping the Russia GP from the calendar. Furthermore, All the drivers on the grid united to combat the act of war and even featured together in a picture wearing the t-shirt that symbolized ‘No War’.

The Mercedes ace, who is infamous for being outspoken against societal injustices also supported the same cause as his fellow athletes. The Brit took to social media for sharing his message to the people struggling in Ukraine.

He wrote, “When we see injustice it is important we stand against it.

“My heart goes out to all the courageous people of Ukraine who are facing such terrible attacks for simply choosing a better future and I stand with the many Russian citizens who oppose this violence and seek peace, often at risk to their own freedom.”

“Please stay safe everyone. We are praying for you.”

Notably, the philanthropist went the extra mile to support the Disasters Emergency Committee, which is an umbrella group of the UK’s 15 leading aid charities, with local partners in Ukraine and bordering countries.
