Kanye West surprised everyone when he announced in 2015 that he’ll be running for US Presidential elections in 2020. While the rapper could only bag somewhere around 70,000 votes, he had a star admirer rooting for him. That admirer was 7-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Kanye West announced his intention to run for president at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye West’s running for president caught his then-wife Kim Kardashian off guard as well.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said, “that was news to me.”

While everyone thought he was not serious, Kim said, “I believe he is serious and I know that if he puts his mind to something he’ll do his best. And he will.”

Lewis posted a photo of him wearing a hoodie on Snapchat in 2016. What surprised the fans was what was written on the back of the hoodie. The back of the hoodie read, “Yeezy for President”.

He shared the snap on Twitter with a caption that read, “Trump or Yeezy? Who would you pick.”

Lewis Hamilton, in the past, has revealed his friendship with Jay-Z, Kanye, and Drake. He recently tagged J Cole in his Instagram story and called him one of the greatest rappers. His relationship with Kanye remains the highlight.

On Jay Z, Lewis said that he grew up listening to his songs. Lewis said that he was awestruck when Jay Z once told him he watched and supported him in Formula 1.

About Kanye, Hamilton said that he is relatively closer to him and thinks of him as “family”. He admitted to being so close to him that he could pull up to his house and hang with him.
