It’s the final race of the season. Hamilton is comfortably leading the race and is going to win the championship. But wait, a Williams crashed, and the Safety car came out. We all know what happened next. Ever since Abu Dhabi 2021, Lewis Hamilton has been pushing and trying his absolute best to win the 8th Championship, the one that was snatched from his grasp by Max Verstappen and Red Bull in 2021.
After 2023 proved that Mercedes had major flaws with their zeropod concept, and the team shifted to a more conventional design, Lewis Hamilton, who will be moving to Ferrari in 2025, has set targets on the Red Bull as he expected to give the Milton Keynes based team and his arch-rival Max Verstappen a run for their money in his final season with the Silver Arrows.

Lewis Hamilton, during the W15 car launch, said, “The focus through the whole winter training is (to be) 1st. It’s getting the team back to where we once were. We’ve had this difficult couple of years which has been grounding for us. It’s helped us regroup. We’ve had to relook at things as Toto mentioned. It’s now about being diligent with our work, understanding the data, understanding the car, and maximizing.”
Lewis Hamilton, while signing the Mercedes contract extension last year, suggested that the team still has unfinished business. And while the Briton has signed with Ferrari for 2025 as a new challenge for him, the 7X champs would love to win his 8th title with the team that gave him so much for the last decade. Amid this. Wolff set the expectations for the W15.

Toto Wolff talked about the W15 and how the car is almost new in every aspect. Not only the aerodynamics but also the mechanical parts invisible to the naked eye are improved. However, Wolff was then reminded of how the 2023 season started and how the team ended it on a high finishing 2nd in constructors. The Mercedes CEO was asked about his expectations and the team’s mindset going into 2024.
Toto Wolff said, “We got it wrong with the new regulations but when we will be looking back at 10 years or longer, you’re going to read that we finished first 8 times in a row, and then 3rd and 2nd in constructors. It will look like it was a respectable result and wasn’t so bad. But this not counting another team and driver winning most of the races. So our aim is to consolidate our position between Ferrari McLaren and Aston Martin and be at the forward part of that group and at the same time, race at the very front”
