It is no surprise that Lewis Hamilton is not producing the best seasons of his career. It can probably even be his worst! And to add insult to the injury, he stands 34 points behind his teammate, George Russell. This start of the season with a poor and underperforming W13 has put him sixth in the Championship table.
What’s worse is after his intense battle last season, he is currently a massive 98 points behind leader Max Verstappen. And this situation has provoked Bernie Ecclestone, the former CEO of F1, to give Hamilton some career advice. Probably not the best advice Hamilton has ever received, but something he must be used to by now.

Ecclestone said, “Lewis might sell his position to Toto [Wolff, Mercedes’ team principal].
“This is how much I am getting, I’ll step down and give me half of what I would get”. Toto can go and do one of his magic deals, offer someone less money and keep £20m ($24 Million).”
He added, “Nobody needs to tell Toto this because he has already thought of it. Lewis would probably stop under those circumstances.”
We are not sure if the Mercedes world champion, chasing the elusive eighth championship title, will be eager to take this advice. Hamilton’s form and complaints about the back pain from porpoising have also earned him a lot of criticism. Ecclestone’s comments come in addition to all the backlash he has faced from the F1 fraternity recently.
However, we doubt Hamilton and Toto Wolff would take this advice anytime soon!
Criticism is a theme for the season for Lewis Hamilton
The longer it takes for Hamilton to reach his usual standards, the more time entities from the F1 fraternity will have to hit out at the brit. Apart from Ecclestone, Sir Jackie Stewart has also advised Hamilton to hang his helmet.

“It’s time for him (Hamilton) to resign,” said Stewart. He added, “He’s got music, he’s got culture, he loves clothing and the rag trade would be absolutely suitable for him.”
