Apart from driving credentials in Formula One, Lewis Hamilton is globally famous for his fashion sense. The 7-time world champion has made quite a name for himself in the entertainment and fashion industry in the past decade.

This has not only enabled him to launch his own fashion line in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, but also to get friendly with many celebrities around the world. Unfortunately, this year he could not attend the Mel Gala 2022 because it clashed with Miami GP in the same week.

But he was closely watching the annual event, like everyone in the world. He took to his Instagram stories to comment on the lovely picture of Hollywood actors, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. “My fav couple,” wrote Hamilton while sharing the look of the couple in his story.

Hamilton has been quite a regular at the event in previous years and wore some interesting outfits. In 2021, he wore a black outfit to share the work of people at the event.

The Mercedes driver shared the message of inclusivity and diversity while showcasing his outfit for the event. It was important for the 7-time world champion to use his popularity to showcase the work of these talented designers.

“We’re living in a time where diversity and inclusion are so important, and that’s why I started this organization [The Hamilton Commission] within my own sport. I realized it’s very similar in the fashion industry. A lot of young brands and designers don’t have the same opportunities, so that’s what really set me off,” said Hamilton.

“The Met is the biggest fashion event of the year, and for this theme, I wanted to create something that was meaningful and would spark a conversation. So that when people see us all together, it will put these Black designers at the top of people’s minds,” said the Mercedes driver.

Hamilton has always stood for humanitarian and equal rights issues in his life. So it is not surprising for him to take his values and showcase them on such a big stage. Hopefully, it will bring about change in the world of fashion and we’ll see more designers who are of color.
