In the 9th episode of the latest installment of Drive to Survive, fans get to see Lewis Hamilton in the spotlight as well as his multiple on-track incidents over the season.
Is Hamilton prone to crashes?
The 2021 season saw Lewis Hamilton get into a few horrifying crashes. This sparked the debate about his ability to have clean races with fellow drivers. The producers of the show question Hamilton about the same.
To this, the 7-time world champion replied “I have a track record of fighting hard and fair I don’t have a track record of crashing with people” Right before this, Lewis also mentioned, “I think he [Verstappen] pushes it to the limit and probably beyond.”
His track record in the 2021 season could not perhaps back up his claims. He regularly had incidents with title challenger Max Verstappen throughout the season. They both crashed out at Silverstone and Monza, which drastically affected the title race.
There were plenty of other smaller skirmishes, most notably at the Brazilian GP and at the Saudi GP. Moreover, Hamilton has a history of being involved in crashes. Considering this, it is safe to say that he is not afraid to get his elbows out while racing.
