Max Verstappen has been the only name at the top of the podium for the last 7 races. Such is his race pace that, in Hungary, he finished 33 seconds ahead of Lando Norris (in P2) and 39 seconds ahead of his arch-rival, Lewis Hamilton (in P4). The latter has been trying everything to get close to the Dutchman but to no avail. However, the Briton has now been accused of taking part in some fishy business with the FIA.

On multiple occasions, the Briton has given different suggestions to the FIA to curb Max Verstappen’s dominance. In Austria, he asked the FIA to not allow Red Bull to work on the next year’s car before a certain date. When he got to know that RB might have breached the cost cap again, he urged the FIA to give more than a “slap on the wrist” to them.

On the latest episode of ‘The VF1 Show’, hosted by VF Castro and Vincenzo Landino, the duo spoke about how Red Bull’s DRS doesn’t seem as strong enough as at the beginning of the season. Hamilton had pointed this out at the Hungarian GP. And Landino pointed out how the 7-time champ may have wanted the FIA to snatch Verstappen’s lethal weapon away.

Landino said, “Lewis made a comment about what happened to Red Bull’s DRS. He thinks that their DRS is not as powerful as it was. So there were all kinds of rumors like did the FIA, lowkey, dock Red Bull without letting anyone know? And tell them – Hey, you need to stop doing whatever you’re doing with your DRS.”

Even if the FIA has made the Milton-Keynes outfit make changes to their car, it doesn’t look like there is any effect of the same on Verstappen’s performance. Even Hamilton’s past nemesis is surprised by how perfectly the Dutchman is driving.

With his victory in Budapest, Verstappen extended his win streak to 7. If he gets 2 more consecutive wins, he will equal Sebastian Vettel’s 2013 record of 9 wins in a row. Even if he does not achieve that, his current level of near-perfection driving is incredible. And that is exactly what Nico Rosberg said about him on the Sky Sports F1 podcast.

Rosberg said, “It’s incredible really, such a performance from Max. And I said it in the after-race interview with him – that I’m one of the people that can best judge his performance at the moment and the level that he’s driving at. And yes, it doesn’t exactly make for the most exciting races at the very front. But it’s so deserving because it’s incredible the level that he’s at, so close to perfection all the time.”
