Charles Leclerc is one of the best drivers on the grid in Formula One right now. And some would argue the Monegasque driver is on the same level as Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen on the grid.

He has been involved in many epic battles with both drivers in F1. He fended off a rampant Hamilton at the Italian Grand Prix in 2019. And he was able to get his revenge on Max Verstappen at Silverstone 2019 in one of the most memorable wheel-to-wheel battles in recent times.

In a recent interview, Charles Leclerc spoke about his rivalry with Max and his similarities with Hamilton.

Lewis is incredibly consistent: Charles Leclerc

In his interview on Beyond the Grid podcast, the Ferrari driver gave an interesting response when asked if he had any similarities with the seven-time world champion.

” I don’t know. Lewis is incredible, he is incredibly consistent,” said the Monegasque driver.

I’m a bit more of a crazy horse sometimes, going for the special overtake. And he is probably a bit more calm, just waiting for it. So I have to say we have a little bit of a different approach.” said Leclerc.

Can Ferrari challenge the front runners?

Ferrari and Charles Leclerc surprised everyone by taking back-to-back poles in Monaco and Baku. And given the Italian team’s performances this season, it is evident that they have made massive progress from last year.

Speaking about the strengths and shortcomings of the 2021 challenger, Leclerc said, “The strength, I think, our balance, in general. I think we are doing a very good job by setting the car in the right way to just have a good balance. And this helps us on many occasions and that’s also one of the reasons why we are so quick in qualifying.

“But on the other hand, we are struggling, for now, to get on top of where the car needs to be exactly to be performing at its best.”

While Ferrari are surely inconsistent in their performances, they have surely shown great improvement and hints that they are slowly but surely returning to the top.
