The newest generation of Formula 1 drivers are a different breed, and certainly a step in the right direction. In the era of social media, and the sport of Formula 1 appealing to a younger fanbase, these young drivers have surely struck the right chord with the fans. Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc are definitely two of the most lovable and liked characters in the Formula 1 paddock right now. And the duo has given us another meme-worthy moment to love them all over again!

Norris and Leclerc are two good pals off the racing track. Sharing an affinity for sim-racing among other things, they’ve developed a pure bond of friendship enunciated through their lives as competitors in the world of F1. But ever so often, as friends do, the duo try to get one up over the other in terms of banter. This time around, it was Norris who had the last laugh.

Lando Norris hilariously trolls Charles Leclerc

During the British Grand Prix, Norris displayed his exquisite skill and talent behind the wheel of an F1 car. But as soon as he got behind the wheel of a normal road-going beast, we saw the meme-lord that is Lando Norris.

The official Instagram account McLaren posted a video of Norris driving around the Silverstone circuit’s periphery to meet a few fans. He was donning a bizarre yet hilarious ‘driving position’. Paired with the post was a picture of Leclerc driving in the same hilarious way! Norris was quoted as saying, “I learned this driving position from Charles Leclerc.”

They may be friends off the track, but what happens when they are fighting for the most coveted race seat in all of Formula 1 right now?

The straight battle between Norris and Leclerc for Red Bull seat

One thing is for sure, Max Verstappen is here to stay. And coming to think of it, Red Bull is realistically the only team in the mix for a championship whitewash in the foreseeable future. Further, as things stand, it’s a straight battle between Leclerc and Norris for that one available Red Bull seat.

According to The Sun, “Both Norris and Leclerc have been approached [by Red Bull]. The Brit is supposedly highly rated by Red Bull chiefs and was close to joining them before penning a deal at McLaren. Norris’ contract runs until 2025 and he reportedly has plans to remain there. Meanwhile, Leclerc sits seventh in the standings and has podiumed just twice this campaign. With his contract up in 2024, there has been speculation he could replace [Sergio] Perez.”
