The 2022 season of F1 has seen three races, and it’s been a roller coaster ride for every team so far. Apart from exciting racing action, the new regulations have seen different car designs and some major aerodynamic changes. However, in this new era, there are a few old things that the Formula 1 fans miss.

One of them is the cooldown room for the drivers. The top three drivers used to relax in the cooldown room after the race and before collecting their trophies on the podium. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Formula 1 stopped the tradition ahead of the 2020 season. However, Formula E has recently introduced this, and it raises the question of whether F1 should bring it back.

Should F1 bring back cooldown rooms?

The cooldown room has always been an intriguing place, to say the least. It is a place where the drivers can settle down once the race gets over. Meanwhile, Formula E’s new look cooldown room has caught the eye.

The drivers finishing fourth to tenth are together in a room after the race. In the room, the highlights of the race is shown and the drivers get a chance to discuss the race. Imagine the drama that might take place between the drivers if the same happens in Formula 1.

However, this is not new to the sport. Before 2020, the fans witnessed plenty of cooldown room dramas. The top 3 drivers showed their frustration and appreciation and it gave the fans a chance to view the tensions brewing between the drivers immediately after a Grand Prix.

Remember when Nico Rosberg threw his cap at Lewis Hamilton in frustration during the United States Grand Prix in 2015? Or Sebastian Vettel’s long chat with Daniil Kvyat in 2016 after he squeezed the four-time world champion when he was at Ferrari.
