Toto Wolff and his wife Susie are Formula 1’s ultimate power couple. And with all relationships, there are always inroads to be made. That being said, the journey they’ve shared in Formula 1 has in curious ways strengthened their relationship as husband and wife.

Back in 2018, as part of a promotional video for Mercedes, the couple were given a lap each in the driver’s seat of one of the AMG spec road cars whilst the other was a passenger. The task was simple. Drive a hot lap of the Suzuka Circuit. What transpired gave us a neat insight into the duos marriage!

While it was Susie’s turn to drive, Toto Wolff didn’t seem too confident about her driving skills. But Susie retorted, “This is lots of fun!” 

She then went on, “Think how much progress we’ve made in our marriage. You’re actually staying in the car. The last time we did this you chose to ask me to stop and then you walked back to the pits.” 

And as soon as Wolff began narrating the incident, he exclaimed, “Be careful! There’s the right-hander from before.”

When it was Wolff’s chance to get into the driver’s seat, he knew he’d get his revenge.

After Susie was done with her lap, it was time for Toto Wolff to get into the driver’s seat. What ensued was a wholesome yet scary lap around Suzuka for his wife Susie Wolff. It was time for Wolff to drive the wheels off of that AMG!

As soon as he got into the car, he said, “Wait. This is payback!” Susie Wolff was then escorted on what could arguably be her most scary stint inside a car. On many occasions, she exclaimed, “Brake! That’s too fast, Toto!” But Wolff wouldn’t yield.

Finally, she snapped back, “This is the difference. You try to show off on the first lap!”
