As the news of Daniel Ricciardo leaving McLaren at the end of this year spreads like wildfire, his teammate Lando Norris has made some revelations. Even though the comments were made prior to Ricciardo’s McLaren announcement, they give a clear idea about the two McLaren drivers’ relationship and interest off the track.

Often seen together in McLaren’s YouTube videos, Daniel Ricciardo joined McLaren from Renault just before the 2021 season. The Australian replaced Carlos Sainz for a multi-year contract with the British F1 team. However, his journey from there till here hasn’t been a great one apart from the Monza win.

Even though Norris and Ricciardo drive the same car, and compete for the same team, their interests away from the track are very different. Lando Norris shared his take on this on Spotify’s Beyond The Grid podcast, “I guess we just have different interests, we grew up in different periods of time, and yeah I’ve different interests altogether.”

He drinks sort of wine and something like that and that’s the last thing I ever want to do in my life is drink wine for enjoyment, because I hate it so much. So we’re very different.“, further asserted the 23-year-old driver.

How are Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo different?

Lando Norris, who’s a big-time golf fanatic, revealed that his teammate isn’t interested in the sport at all. This brings Carlos Sainz into the picture with whom Norris used to play golf often. Their ‘bromance’ was famous on the F1 circuit, thanks to mutual interests.

On the other hand, the Honey Badger is a big-time UFC fan. Norris in this regard does not have much of an interest. “No, not as much as him. You know he re-enacts it at times, on his own, and gets into these weird positions. But I watch UFC sometimes, some good ones,” Norris revealed further.

Moreover, their on-track performance has been a bit different as well. Norris picked up 160 points last season with P6 as compared to Ricciardo’s P8 with 115 points, with a win at Monza. However, the difference is more prominent this year, as the Briton picked up 76 points so far in the 2022 season as compared to the Australian’s 19.
