Time hasn’t been kind to Lando Norris and McLaren lately. The team that once ran for wins has been reduced to mere shadows now. Coming into 2023, things have gone so worse for the Woking-based team as their star driver Norris had to come online to share messages for the fans ahead of the Bahrain GP race. The Briton shared a seven-worded message to let the fans know the development going around in the background and that they care for the McLaren community worldwide.

Addressing fans, Norris said in an official video released by McLaren on their official Twitter handle, “I guess this little message is to all you fans and supporters to continue to say thanks for supporting us. No matter where we are this weekend, we’re doing our best for you.”

We’re working as hard as we can to fight our way to the top and we do have a good plan in place to do exactly that. So we’ll be giving that our all. We’re working very, very hard both here, back at the MTC [McLaren Technology Centre], to make improvements and get moving forward,” the McLaren driver further stated.

Fans showed ample support for Lando Norris despite their disastrous qualifying performance

As soon as the video landed on the internet, fans were quick to share their supportive feedback to their favorite driver. Despite qualifying in P11, the Papaya fans showered ample love for the young Briton and his teammate Oscar Piastri, who qualified in P18.

Lando Norris also took out his time to thank the fans who arrived in Bahrain to share their support. He said, “There’s a lot of you here out in Bahrain already dressed in papaya, papaya hats, Papaya T-shirts, which we really appreciate. So I look forward to seeing you all this weekend and in the future, weekends have an amazing weekend. Thank you very much.”

As things stand, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will need to climb a high mountain to grab points from the position they are in. Even if they do, that will not be enough, in the long run, to stay in the hunt for the mid-table finish at the end of the season.
