In the past few years, the F1 fanbase has vastly grown on social media, which is now affecting the sport because now fans can directly share their support for their F1 teams. However pleasant that might sound, this also means that whenever an F1 driver makes a mistake, fans are quick to criticize them on a public platform.
Since the 2021 Abu Dhabi race, social media has been on fire because fans are fighting about the season finale results. Formula One is trying to deal with this negativity as it affects the sport, and many drivers have been victims of this negativity. The young McLaren driver, Lando Norris, has also faced criticism on social media. And now, the young Briton shared his thoughts on this topic.
The McLaren driver said, “I think it’s something I’ve learned in my first three seasons in F1, that there seem to be those people out there who, that is the only thing they want to do with their life, and they have nothing better than to attack people.

“I just hate to see it. Does it affect me? In a small way, but nothing more than that hopefully.
“From my side, it’s just more funny to see nowadays and I take as a laugh and a joke, rather than taking it personally, as there is nothing you can do.
“You have to focus on your own job, focus on your laps, whatever. And if it is out of your hands, then there is no reason you should get the blame for it.”
