Lando Norris crashed at the Eau-Rouge corner in wet conditions in the qualifying at the Belgian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver was left a bit winded after the crash. He was taken to the medical center for further checks.
In the late evening, he provided an update on his condition and mentioned that they have given him an all-clear for the race. But Norris stated he was a little disappointed to not challenge for the pole in the qualifying yesterday.

I think I could easily have driven for pole position!: Lando Norris
As reported by Motorsport-Total, The McLaren driven was genuinely in contention for a shock pole position at the Belgian Grand Prix before his crash. Norris had topped both Q1 and Q2 ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, respectively.
“It went extremely well. From the first lap of Q1, everything went perfectly, and I felt really good in the car,” said Lando on his qualifying performance.
“Of course I feel bad now because it was going really very well up until then. The car was amazing and Q1 and Q2 were just extremely good. I think I could easily have driven for pole position! Instead, I have one for the team brought a whole lot of work.
And probably a long night. But unfortunately, I can’t change it now.” said Norris.

The McLaren driver analyzes his horrific crash in Spa
Norris, whilst analyzing the crash, blamed himself for the crash. He stated he was a little too fast in standing water at the corner and did not need to risk that much.

“In the rain, where the others drive, slightly drier lines quickly form. And if you then, like me, drive a bit next to these lines at full speed, you will encounter a lot of stagnant water bumps through Eau Rouge. That was just too much for what I was up to! The bottom line was that it was my fault. “Said Norris on his crash.
He concluded he is looking forward to the race and mentioned that anything is still possible. “ In Spa, anything can happen,” Lando concluded.

Because of his crash, McLaren had to replace the gearbox in Norris’ car for the race. This means that Norris will have a 5 place grid penalty and start the race in P14.
