McLaren prodigy Lando Norris had spoken about mental health before the Monaco race. The 22-year-0ld shared that the “coolest part” of being an influential F1 driver is helping people with mental health.

Norris has always been open about mental health compared to most F1 drivers. The English driver spoke about his mental health and depression in his rookie F1 season. And the fans liked the Englishman for talking about such matters.

Norris is happy to influence people about mental health

Norris has a great life at age 22. He drives for one of the best F1 teams, gets to travel the world, and has a huge fanbase. But these aspects don’t make him happy about being a successful driver. Instead, he wants to use his fame and influence to spread mental health awareness.

“One of the coolest parts again isn’t just the fact that I get to drive the cars and race people and travel the world. But the influence I can have on people with certain things like mental health, which was a big one over the last couple of years,” said the young McLaren driver.

The Englishman never thought of having a significant influence on his fans. He reported, “The way I can affect them is probably something that I would never have thought of ever-growing up in karting and with dreams of getting to Formula 1.”

He further continued, “You never think of the impact you can have on people, so I think that’s almost the most special thing is the effect you can have on people.”

The young McLaren driver had a great race weekend in Monaco, finishing in points at P6. Norris came to the principality with tonsillitis, which he’s suffering from since the Barcelona race.

Norris’s excellent performance even impressed former F1 driver Felipe Massa, who asked how Norris would perform at full health. The Briton jokingly answered, “I’m gonna be unbelievable.

The next race in the 2022 schedule is the Azerbaijan GP, and he finished P5 here last season. It would be fascinating to see what Norris gets to Baku this season. Do you expect Norris to again finish in points at Baku?
