Lando Norris and McLaren had a difficult time in the Pre-season test in Bahrain. The British driver single-handedly drove for 3 days for the team as his teammate Daniel Ricciardo fell ill. It was later revealed that the Aussie had contacted COVID-19 and was recovering from the illness. Moreover, McLaren had limited running on all 3 days as they faced brake issues. Norris even mentioned that the 3 days had been less than optimal for the team.

As his teammate recovers from the virus, Lando revealed he had been texting Daniel throughout the 3 days to fill him in on the latest developments on the car. As the Australian was not able to test out the new car on the Bahrain track, it all fell on Norris to fill his teammate in and help the team move forward.  For now, it is still unclear whether Riccardo will race next week.

Lando Norris provides Daniel Ricciardo health update

There had been several reports that the Aussie driver might miss out on the first race of the season next week. But Norris provided an update and mentioned that Daniel was recovering and is better than before.

” He is fractionally better for sure. We have been texting back and forth and we will have a call with him, especially today, to give him the rundown of what’s been happening and the improvements we have made. The things we are struggling with the most because he can always come up with the ideas even if he is in his bed,” said Lando.

Of course, as a team, we want to make sure that we are prepared together for the first race. It is also my job to make sure he is up to date. He knows everything and we can work together going into next week,” said the McLaren driver.

It is nice to see the camaraderie between both drivers and how focused they are to take the team forward. Hopefully, Ricciardo will recover before the start of the first race next week.
