Lando Norris and his McLaren outfit are currently embracing what could be their best F1 season in years. One might even say this has been McLaren’s best start to a season since the wake of the hybrid era.
Amidst such a positive getaway, having secured two podiums out of the five races so far, Norris isn’t denying the possibilities of the team securing a race win. The Briton claimed it is “not crazy” to predict a McLaren race win over the ongoing F1 season.

What did Lando Norris say?
As reported by GP Fans, Norris hailed the positive start for McLaren and reckoned 2021 could be the year to end the British outfit’s winless streak in F1.
“It’s not too crazy,” Norris said when asked about the prospects of McLaren enjoying a race victory in 2021. “Let’s say it’s our best season in a long time to maybe achieve something like that.

“With the team, I’m positive when I need to be, and negative when I need to be. All of that’s only for the benefit of the team, putting our heads right and keeping us working hard.”
McLaren did come close to winning a race with Carlos Sainz last season at Monza. However, the Spaniard failed to make a move on the eventual race winner, Pierre Gasly, as he ended up just 0.4 seconds behind the AlphaTauri driver.

Norris lauds McLaren’s effort this season
The Briton felt that his team have punched above their weight so far, as he is hoping that the dominance prevails until the end of the season.

“We’ve had three strong races, three good races because I feel like I’ve done a very good job, and together the team has done a good job,” he said.

F1 is less than a week from knocking on the doors of Baku, as the circuit returns to the racing calendar after missing out in 2020. Yet again, McLaren stand tall as clear favorites against rival mid-field teams, including Ferrari.

With the powerful Mercedes engine at the back, both Norris and his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, could be uncatchable on the straights. Hence, amidst such positives hovering over the team, can either of the drivers manage to secure yet another podium?
