Did Lando Norris just prove he's tougher than Max Verstappen with that comeback?

Considering the way the Austrian GP unfolded, Lando Norris took the race quite sportingly. After being eliminated due to a collision with Max Verstappen, he naturally must have been disappointed. Just seconds away from taking the lead from the Red Bull champion, only to get hit by him and suffer from a puncture, he, however, did not let his spirits fall.

George Russell was the main beneficiary of the quarrel at the front as he took the lead of the Austrian GP. He won the race, making it his second Grand Prix victory and the first for Mercedes this season. Although Norris believes that the victory was his for the taking, he joined Lewis Hamilton in congratulating George Russell’s big win.

Beating Max Verstappen in an F1 race is something not many drivers can say since he has become champion. In 2023, he managed to win 19 out of 22 races. This year, it’s a little different, as the Red Bull has already lost more races than he did in the entirety of last season. So when George Russell won the race, it was an unexpected result, according to everyone.

Although Verstappen’s pace is quite strong, the crash caused the recently upgraded W15 to see the checkered flag first. To celebrate his victory, George Russell posted a picture of his GP trophy on his Instagram profile. The post received likes in the hundreds of thousands, with Lewis Hamilton and Tommy Hilfiger congratulating the Briton.

However, what was shocking is that despite having one of the worst races of the season because of having to retire his car, Norris still made sure to share his compliments with his fellow Briton. Norris congratulated Russell in the comments section with a simple message saying, “Congrats mate”. Everyone across the paddocks is impressed with how composed the McLaren driver has been despite getting eliminated with no fault of his own, but at least that led to his teammate coming in second.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Lando Norris just prove he's tougher than Max Verstappen with that comeback?

Have an interesting take?

Let’s take a look at what Oscar Piastri had to say about his P2 finish.

Oscar Piastri celebrates his 4th podium

After achieving his fourth podium in the Grand Prix format, Piastri shared a picture of the trophy on his Instagram too. However, the post came in much later than Russell’s, which is probably why there were no congratulations from his teammate at the time of reporting.

During the qualifier, Oscar Paistri clocked the third fastest time and was supposed to start in the second row, but his time was canceled for exceeding track limits. So when it came to the captions, Piastri got a little creative as he announced his fourth GP win. He complimented the trophy that is shaped like the track, and to that, he added, “Nice trophy (and reminder of the track limits).”

Piastri is one of the younger drivers on the grid, and among all the other new drivers, he is the only one with podium finishes. Although Piastri was the only driver to score points in the team, this was an important win. Now that Lando Norris knows that he can match Max Verstappen’s pace, Red Bull has a target on their back.

That being said, do you think that the British Grand Prix will be where Lando Norris plots his revenge? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
