Lando Norris has shifted from Surrey in the UK to Monaco as his permanent base. The McLaren driver has joined the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc who are already living in the Principality.

Norris decided to relocate to the French-speaking nation in 2021. He faced a lot of criticism on his decision to move to Monaco, as many stated that money influenced his choice. Lando has now come forward to explain why he chose to relocate and respond to the criticism over the same.

As reported by Autosport, the McLaren driver mentioned he has a lot to gain by moving to Monaco. He stated he made the decision to relocate regarding his future.

“It’s something that obviously a lot of drivers go to do and especially, with how racing is, I think we’ve seen for other drivers how quickly things can also go downhill and so on. I have to look after my things for my future,” said Norris.

Norris responded to the critics as well and stated he will stream on Twitch from his new home.

“Of course, I’ll understand and there’s going to be some [criticisms] for sure. But people do many things in life for money. This is just another one. I can still stream on Twitch and stuff. My interaction with the fans won’t change at all. Max has done a few streams, so that side of it won’t change. I think everything I do in day-to-day life, it’s going to be exactly the same.” said the McLaren driver.

Monaco is known to be a tax haven for the rich as there is a lot of financial relaxation. So the move to the Principality makes sense for Norris and ties in with the outlook that he has for the future. Now he will have two home races from the 2022 season.
