Lando Norris is back at the Woking base after the pre-season testing season and gearing up for the 2022 season. Subsequent to the intense test runs, the young McLaren driver was seen doing something other than preparing for the 2022 season. The Briton was recently interviewed by Vanity Fair, where he revealed the rivals against whom he would compete in the upcoming season.

The 22-year-old recently expressed that the Ferrari duo and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen are his main competition in 2022. The fight between the Ferrari and McLaren is not unknown to fans. Last year, the two constructors had a neck-to-neck competition for third place. The fight between the two teams will continue this year too; therefore, Norris will again compete against Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz this season.

Further, the McLaren man also shares that he also wants to compete against the reigning champion driver. So Norris would be competing against Verstappen this season besides the Ferrari duo. Further, Lando Norris also shared his wish to even compete against the Silver Arrows.
The McLaren driver shared on Vanity Fair, “I think the thing which makes Formula One very competitive, and very difficult and special at all times is everyone is your competition.”

“There is of course the guy you want to beat who is probably the champion from the previous year but there’s never one competition,” Norris continued. “I guess maybe in this time where we are right now, it’s Ferrari but next year it might not. Maybe it can be Mercedes or it can be any other team.”
Lando Norris on his future with McLaren
The young prodigy is the main driver for the English constructor, McLaren. He joined the Woking-based team back in 2019 and has been a magnificent addition to the F1 team. Norris was phenomenal last season, winning podiums and claiming points for his team. Because of his efforts, the Orange outfit finished fourth on the constructors’ table last season. Meanwhile, the driver finished sixth ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

Because of his 2021 performance, McLaren has extended the contract with Lando Norris. According to the new contract, the young talent will be seen wearing orange till 2025.
