Many teams failed to utilize the new rules and regulations to their advantage this season. Apart from Red Bull and Ferrari, none of the other teams looked convincing enough with their new car. McLaren was among those teams that suffered at the start of the season. Lando Norris finished the season P7 with only 1 podium finish to show for himself. However, despite the poor season, Norris seemed more astonished after learning he might look similar to a person resembling one of the cursed F1 nicknames.
F1 released the Studio Outtakes with the 2023 grid and their Team Principals. While it was mostly fun and banter, McLaren’s Lando Norris was suggested to dress up as ‘Britney’ for Halloween.
What is the story behind the ‘Britney’ nickname?

‘Britney’ is a reference to the popular Popstar singer Britney Spears. The nickname was first used in F1 on Nico Rosberg. Mark Webber, who was the 2016 world champion’s partner in Williams, referred to Rosberg by that name.

Rosberg’s long, flowing blonde hair was the inspiration for Mark Webber to call him “Britney”. Lando Norris learned that he might as well look like the Pop icon in the latest video of Studio Outtakes.
Speaking in the video, the interviewer asked Norris who he would go dressed up as in a Halloween costume. The Briton replied, “Halloween costume? I don’t know what I would go?” That’s when someone from the background replied, Britney, and Norris said, “Britney? Do I look like Britney?”
McLaren is set for an overhaul this season after Daniel Ricciardo and Team Principal Andreas Seidl left the organization. However, Lando’s performance this season earned him big praise from his former TP.
Former McLaren TP makes big Lando Norris claim
He might not have a lot of achievements to show for this season, but Lando Norris certainly impressed his former team principal Andreas Seidl. Seidl left the Papaya team to join as the CEO of Sauber. However, he was still in disbelief that it was only Lando Norris’ 4th season in F1.

Andreas said, as reported by Formula1news.co.uk, “There were different things which were impressing me quite a lot. Obviously, in terms of pure performance inside the car, even if it’s not so visible in terms of results, because we simply were not that competitive compared to last year. He clearly made another step.”
He further added, “If I see how he’s approaching the weekends, how he’s pulling off the qualifying sessions, how he’s pulling off the races–it’s just impressive, knowing that he’s only in his fourth year in Formula 1.”
