The intense qualifying lap is done and dusted with Max Verstappen taking pole position, while Lewis Hamilton had to settle for second. However, Lando Norris surprised everyone by taking P3 in the session. Seeing that Lewis and Max will push each other to the limit, the McLaren driver would like to avoid getting involved in their fight in Sunday’s much-anticipated race.
The 2021 championship will be decided in tomorrow’s race, both the title contenders are in the front row. Hence, Norris would avoid battling them but would go for a move if the opportunity presents itself.
Lando Norris doesn’t want to get tangled in Hamilton and Verstappen’s title fight

The final race of the season is just around the corner, with Max starting on pole and his arch-rival from Mercedes in P2. McLaren’s Norris will start Sunday’s race in third place, seeing how close he is to the title contenders, he looks to avoid getting in between their title fight.
After the quali session speaking to David Coulthard, Lando said, “Yeah I am a bit nervous because I kinda want to stay where I am and watch everything unfold over the first few laps or even the whole race. But, I also don’t want to get really involved too much.”
“Cause it can cause a lot of controversies, so I don’t know whether or not to go for the move not go for the move. You tell me, but ill do my best, and If I do have a chance I’ll go for it,” Norris explained.

Can Lando bring McLaren another podium this season?

The Brit has had an outstanding season so far. The 22-year-old has bagged four podiums, and starting P3 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Sunday’s race, gives the McLaren driver hope to take his tally up to five.
However, Norris is quite aware of the challenge that awaits on Sunday’s race. Having to overtake Hamilton or Verstappen can be a mammoth of a task, as they would be fighting for the race of their life.
