Lando Norris recently signed a bumper new contract with the McLaren F1 team. According to the new contract, the young British driver will stay with the team till the end of the 2025 season. It is currently the longest contract for any driver on the F1 grid right now.

Norris had signed a contract extension in 2021 until the end of 2023. But his performances last year meant that he is arguably the hottest driver on the grid apart from Verstappen and Hamilton right now. So McLaren signed a new contract with the driver and sealed him from their rivals. But Lando mentioned that money was not the motivating factor behind signing a new deal with the Woking-based team.

My happiness and enjoyment is above everything: Lando Norris

As reported by Formula Rapido, Norris mentioned that his happiness and enjoyment of racing are above everything. He revealed that he’s happy with McLaren and his career right now and would not want to move for the next 4 years anywhere else.

“My enjoyment and everything and happiness comes above all, that’s for me still the most important thing. That for me is the deciding factor in all of this and of course, I would have moved to Monaco and so on but things change and with that, still my happiness and enjoyment is above everything,” said Norris.

“That’s why I want to stay here, I could try to get the opportunity to move elsewhere in future but for the next four years, for a big part of my life, I want to stay here and enjoy the time with McLaren who brought me into the sport, so I am happy where I am and that matters more than anything else,” said the McLaren driver.

It is indeed a statement by McLaren that they have managed to keep Norris with them. It would be interesting to see how the British driver performs in the coming years with the team.
