Lando Norris embraced an absolutely delightful 2021 season at McLaren, having secured multiple podiums and almost a race victory at Sochi. Of course, he did eventually lose to his former teammate, Carlos Sainz, in the driver’s championship battle for P5.

But, nevertheless, the Briton earned McLaren’s respect after carrying the team on his shoulders through most parts of 2021 while Daniel Ricciardo was having a hard time adapting to his car. And shouldering such an immense responsibility by a driver as young as Norris was certainly a sight to behold.

Hence, after a promising show in 2021, McLaren and Norris have now extended their partnership until the end of 2025. Prior to this announcement, Norris’ contract with the British outfit potentially lasted until the end of 2023 after the latter had signed a multi-year deal in May 2021.

Now, despite an active deal at hand, McLaren are seemingly keen on holding onto this feisty young prodigy for as long as possible. “The opportunity to extend our relationship with Lando reflects not only our commitment but our belief and confidence in his talent,” Andreas Seidl said.

The Briton affirmed that he is more confident than ever working with McLaren. And with the duo starting to build a commendable partnership, it almost looks like they could pull off more successes in the coming years, especially amidst promises through the regulation changes.

Last season was another great step, both in my career and the team’s performance, and I see and feel all the work, investment and commitment for the team to be in a position to challenge for wins and titles in the future,” Norris said.

This all gives me huge confidence looking forward, so it was a natural decision to extend our relationship for the next few years.” Overall, a challenging season awaits Norris, who had a rather one-sided battle against his teammate in 2021.

However, the Australian did manage to step up late that season. Hence, it is likely that Norris will have a hard time defending his dominant role in the team amid Ricciardo’s possible resurgence this year.
