The highly anticipated 2024 British Grand Prix is just around the corner. As the pressure builds up on the drivers; a win on the historical track would be a cherry on the icing! Especially for Lando Norris who’d aim for redemption this weekend. Following his disaster in Spielberg, Norris is surely desperate to regain what he lost last week. Meanwhile, it a not-so-pleasing news for the Mercedes fans, as Lewis Hamilton gave his verdicts for Silverstone.

Silverstone, where Lewis Hamilton first made waves in F1 in 2006, remains a favorite for the home crowd. Despite his many memorable moments, 2024 might not be Mercedes’ or Hamilton’s year. The 39-year-old feels it might be a tough race for Mercedes.“Do we have the car to win here? I think on these high-speed tracks Max and McLaren remain the fastest,” said the seven-time World Champion. So now, British fans have to look up to McLaren’s British driver Lando Norris, and not to the British duo of Mercedes.

And as it seems, Lando Norris could be the next messiah for his people. Being in his prime right now, taking on Silverstone and competing against the ‘fierce force’ named Max Verstappen wouldn’t be too difficult. At the same time, it would not be easy at all.

With a legacy of eight decades, Silverstone stands strong. From hosting the first-ever F1 race in 1950 to hosting the current season, the British circuit has seen it all. And it is this history that makes the British Grand Prix so special for all the drivers. On one hand, there is Lewis Hamilton who holds the record for most wins in Silverstone; on the other hand, Lando Norris is waiting for his first win on home turf. Lando too now desires to win on the historic circuit.

Lando Norris would love to win his second race at the British Grand Prix

“If I could win anywhere and only once, it would be Silverstone,” Lando Norris told the BBC. Despite Red Bull’s past domination, Norris is now consistently challenging Max Verstappen. However, McLaren still lacks something crucial for consistent wins. If Norris can find that ‘extra bit,’ he could secure his second F1 win and first at Silverstone. “I’m very, very excited. Just because it’s the fans and the atmosphere, the feeling you get, the smile on your face. I’m just excited for all of it,” Norris added. This new-found excitement and energy that Lando is filled with could be the key to his win this weekend. And the British fans would rejoice more because the boy from their homeland once again took charge of their home track.

Even Jenson Button is predicting Norris’ win in Silverstone! The new home hero, or to put it more dramatically the ‘messiah’ of the British fans, Lando Norris, has the support of his fans and also of former champions and experts. But, all these are simple predictions. The race is yet to commence, and knowing how tricky the track is, it’ll be unfair to get the hopes high.
